The Damage
Mr. and I were all about Vier Söhne (German Hefeweizen). I thought it had a smooth taste and Mr. thinks it is light and easy, which makes it the perfect beer for a hot day.
Coconutorious (Coconut Amber) surprised Mr. since he hasn't experienced many smooth ambers. I can't even begin to explain my love for Coconutorious! The coconut flavor doesn't play with your emotions and gets right to the point.
Now, Mr. has been to the Emerald Isle, so O'Sonset (Irish Red) had flavors that brought the brogue back.

Flight Deck #1 - (back) Vier Söhne German Hefeweizen, Coconutorious Coconut Amber, O'Sonset Irish Red, Surf City Pale Ale Tropical Pale Ale
Flight Deck #2 - (front) Land Of Hopportunity Blood Orange IPA, Hopprentice Hoppy Pale Ale, The Great One Imperial IPA, Nightmare on Gothard St. Chocolate Coffee Stout
The Great One (Imperial IPA) was working for me. I am learning to enjoy IPA's and I found The Great One to have a great flavor that didn't hold your tonuge hostage.
So, if you looked through out Karl Strauss experience, you might have noticed that I am all in when it comes to the dark esspresso brews. Nightmare on Gothard St. (Chocolate Coffee Stout) was 100% in my wheel house. The coffee flavor was right there, greeting me like a long lost friend, and I ran into it's embrace without hesitation.

B2 Stealth (BBA Stout w/ Vietnamese Coffee) made it's not-so-stealthy premier the day of our visit, and it arrived with a bang. I was seduced with the promise of coffee and a dark stout, but I was not woman enough for this one. This one had all the flavors and the body of a professional MMA fighter.
Cincorita (Margarita Sour) brought some sweetness to Mr.'s palate and I could not get enough of the sweet and sour street fight going on in my mouth. I was feeling King Coco (Imperial Coconut Amber), but I think of King Coco as the unapproving, restrained father of Coconutorious. Dank N' Dark (Black IPA) pulled in Mr. with a full body of flavors and the promise of pairing perfectly with dinner. |
Brews Cruise
When all was tasted and done, we decided to finish our visit at 4 Sons Brewing with a pint each of Vier Söhne. We weren't there on the hottest day, but after availing ourselves of the many games available and feeling the heat of being toasted, we needed the refreshing properties that brew had to offer. Fortunatly, we will be going back because we were unable to sample Not So Dum (Raspberry Blonde) which is considered part of their core beers. So, until next time 4 Sons! |
